London Amateur Basketball League

Welcome to our new site!

Our Story

We are the London Amateur Basketball League.  Founded in 2006, we have now become one of the largest amateur leagues in the UK.  From a mere handful of players and referees back in 2006, we now not only run our own basketball league, development programme for officials, appointments service in London and keep growing.  The league is run by the league secretary who also attends the league financial affairs with the assistance of the treasurer.  We register players, coaches and officials with Basketball England.

Please contact us on amateurbasketball@yahoo.co.uk if you would like to find out about our competitions.

MEN'S SUMMER LEAGUE 2025

The Men's Summer Basketball League 2025 took place at St Aloysius College (Hornsey Lane, N6 5LY) starting by the last weekend of June and finishing in mid-August.  The teams participating were:

POOL 1:  London Flames, KCG Elite, North London Unicorns, Viesulas BC;

POOL 2: London Reset, LABAS, UCL Knights, and London Phoenix.

Viesulas BC won the final which makes them champions of all three competitions:  League Play-offs, Cup Tournament and Summer League.

SEASON 2025-2026

The London Amateur Basketball League will start a new season with a different format. Further details will be announced in the next few weeks:

- We remain at St Aloysius College.  All games are on Sundays.
- Increase in fees in view of increase in officials’ fees and booking fees. Club fee would be around £1,720 although this may change.
- 9 clubs playing each other twice. Minimum 16 regular season games. Top 8 clubs classify to play-offs (3 extra games if reaching the final) to play quarter-finals (knock out system) and semi-finals (two rounds), then a play-off final.
- Cup Tournament is budgeted on top of league fees, £110 per round.
- Earlier start of competition on 28th September. Calendar would be ready online.
- Preference is first to clubs already in the league (season 2024-2025), then clubs that have recently joined the Summer League 2025.

If your club is interested in joining us, please contact us on this page, or on amateurbasketball@yahoo.co.uk. The league will be managed via HP Play, as per Basketball England regulations.
